ICCF 2015-030: Extended Reflection Time (use 40+ days)

Brian Jones, Australia Delegate

Extended Reflection Time (use 40+ days)

Proposal

It is proposed that section 3 (b) of the ICCF Playing Rules Server be modified.

Rationale

At present, players may claim “Extended Reflection Time” to use more than 40 days for each move. This rule can be used to delay the result of games, with its consequent effect on tournament cross-tables and player ratings. This delaying tactic should not be allowed.

Relevent Documentation

It is proposed that section 3 (b) of the ICCF Playing Rules Server be modified to:

“If a player does not move after 40 days, the game should be scored as a loss”.

Voting Summary

  • A vote of Yes will mean that Extended Reflection Time (using 40+ days) will no longer be allowed.
  • A vote of No will mean that players can continue to claim Extended Reflection Time .
  • A vote of ABSTAIN is not a vote but means the vote holder has no opinion and does not wish to represent the correspondence chess players of his or her federation in this matter.
